Sonam Kapoor is talking about her battle with PCOS

KARACHI: Not long ago, Sonam Kapoor voiced her struggle with online hate. The actress has now chosen to speak about her battle with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), an illness that affects millions of women around  the globe. In a recent post on Instagram, Sonam Kapoor shared her PCOS diet and can be seen eating a bowl of coconut yogurt with berries and paleo granola for breakfast. Kapoor also revealed that she is off dairy and sugar.

“Usually my food intake consists of everything natural, fresh and local. Wherever I am, I make sure I indulge in the produce that is locally and freshly available. A handful of berries with coconut yogurt is my go-to option for breakfast. This coupled with a cup of either spearmint or green tea and a bowl of greens keeps me energised on long days! Like I mentioned, your PCOS diet needs to be crafted by a professional dietician who knows about your struggles and pains,” she wrote.

This is the second video that Sonam Kapoor has posted regarding PCOS. The first one came a couple of weeks ago in which Kapoor shared her personal struggle with the condition. She also shared some hacks and tips for battling PCOS.

“PCOS, or PCOD, is a very common condition that a lot of women live with. It’s also an extremely confusing condition since everyone’s cases, symptoms and struggles are different. I’ve finally figured out what helps me after years of trying several diets, workouts and routines, and I want to share my tips for managing PCOS with you! Having said that, PCOS manifests in different ways, and I urge you to visit a doctor before you self-medicate or self-prescribe,” Kapoor explained to her followers.

Narrating her journey, Kapoor emphasized upon the importance of exercise and said she now walks at least 10,000 steps a day. She also suggested doing yoga. “It makes you mobile, string and builds your cardio-muscular energy so it’s one of the best.”

The star also highlighted the harms of sugar, “The third thing is that you have to avoid sugar. It makes you feel good, but you come crashing down. I have given up sugar completely,” she shared as the final hack. As an alternative, Kapoor suggested getting ‘good sugar’ out of fruits such as oranges and apples.
