Filming for The Batman halted as Robert Pattinson tests positive for COVID-19

KARACHI: The upcoming superhero film, The Batman, recently resumed shooting that was paused in March due to the pandemic. The first trailer featuring Robert Pattinson as the new dark knight came out last month. However, just as the team became busy with the London production, the filming had to stop again. Reportedly, Robert Pattinson has been tested positive for Covid-19.

“A member of The Batman production has tested positive for Covid-19, and is isolating in accordance with established protocols,” a Warner Bros. spokesperson said in a statement on Thursday. “Filming is temporarily paused.”

“I think we never expected things to go completely smoothly,” Warner Bros. CEO Ann Sarnoff noted during an interview on Thursday. The interview was in line with the release of Christopher Nolan’s much-discussed and oft-postponed Tenet.

“In fact, as we’ve been getting our protocols ready, we built in contingencies,” she furthered. “If someone tests positive, you do contact tracing, you pause, you evaluate, and come back when you can. I think it would have been naïve to think we wouldn’t have certain cases on certain productions. The most important thing is to be ready for when that happens. And we were very much ready.”

Responding to when productions will resume or normalize, she said, “I don’t see things changing until there is a medical solution, unless we were to reach herd immunity somehow. Instead, we are just proceeding as if there won’t be and resuming production as safely as we can.”
