ACF Animal Rescue made sure animals were safe from the rain

KARACHI: ACF Animal Rescue, the largest animal shelter in Karachi, is an organization that has worked tirelessly to save vulnerable animals and provide them a safe space to thrive. The team recently tried to rescue dogs from getting poisoned when the lockdown in Karachi was just beginning. Some of these poisoned dogs were dogs that had been rescued by the team earlier.

The shelter and its animals had suffered greatly when thunderstorms befell Karachi last year. The owner tearfully sought help for the animals as their shelter was flooded due to the rain. Thankfully, the shelter was renovated with help once again and has been operational ever since.

This year though, things played out differently. While the rest of the city was flooded, ACF Animal Rescue were prepared for the flooding and successfully secured the animals from the rain.

The page perhaps broke the only good news for the day through their recent posts, the caption recounting their experience:

“The animals didn’t get wet at all. They are a bit scared and traumatized because of the chill in the air, thunder, and lightening. They all have cozy blankets and towels and we spent all night caring for the blind, deaf, and special needs ones and the new rescues who were really affected.

We have been prepping for one year since the flood we faced last year and all our extra new drainage and back up plans were in place and our solid teamwork because we promised ourselves that we would do anything to never feel that paralyzing helplessness and fear and hear those cries for help from the animals that we witnessed last year.”

Not only this, but the shelter also notified its followers that their preparations for the rain were so thorough, this time, they were also able to provide help to their neighbors.

Finally, the shelter gave thanks to the people who helped them assure safety for their animals with their help last year. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your prayers and support. We would not be here without you all after last year”

We hope the shelter continues to remain a safe space for these animals during the upcoming spell as well.
