KARACHI: It’s raining teasers this week. Yesterday, we saw the teasers of Urwa Hocane-starrer Mushk, followed by Saraab in which Sonya Hussyn will be playing a schizophrenic. And today, the first look of Prem Gali, starring Farhan Saeed and Sohai Ali Abro in key roles, is out. The two, as Hamza and Joya, feature in a romantic setting, hinting at an intense love story.

However, director Qasim Ali Mureed shares with Cutacut that the narrative has much more to offer than an “intense” love saga. “We have touched upon so many important issues that are usually kept under wraps,” he reveals. “The first look gives the impression that it is merely a love story but viewers will know more once we release the second teaser tomorrow.”
“Prem Gali is an extension of Aangan (ARY),” he adds. “Aangan was based within the confines of a household while Prem Gali revolves around a mohalla where people are very close-knit. They live like a family and stick to each other through thick and thin.”
Farhan and Sohai will be sharing the screen for the first time in this play, penned by the incredible Faiza Ifitkhar. According to the director, it is not going to be a superficial love story as Hamza and Joya are people with substance. “Prem Gali will remind people of old school romance where setting up a meeting with the beloved used to be a big task. It is a light-hearted project. We’ve tried to create something exceptional with major themes including love, family values, neighborhood, etc.”
The project was on hold due to the lockdown but the team resumed shooting over a month ago. Prem Gali is expected to go on air later this month on ARY Digital.
