In the spirit of positive-thinking we have listed some of the most impactful things we have learned from Jay Shetty’s videos.

1.Everyone’s timing is different:

Shetty stressed in one of his videos that people need to stop putting themselves on a pedestal of being like the people they see around them and comparing their achievements in accordance with what other people their age have achieved.  He states,Everything in life happens according to our time, our clock”. In this case, people who may seem as though they are ahead of you in life, are just living by their clock and the same can be destined to happen for you-but at a different time.

2. Failure may not build resumes, but it builds character:

The notion of failure or being subject to trials and obstacles ties well with character building. “We should be building life and not a CV,” the life-coach said in another video, suggesting that often times people are too fixated on their self-worth being determined by how well they are performing in terms of their careers instead of other aspects of living and waiting for life’s various other adventures. Failure can mold an individual’s character into one that is strong and patient.

3. Our problems don’t define our value:

The value of an individual, according to Shetty, remains untouched no matter how many problems we go through. “No matter how many times life will tread on you, life will crumple you, you will always keep your value,” he said by giving an example of a $20 note that remains valuable no matter how crushed or crumpled it gets.

4. Stay around people who look more like your future than your past

Jay Shetty has time and again expressed that the company you keep is a big determinant of one’s happiness, ability to achieve goals, the way one sees themselves and self worth. “Some people just don’t care,” he said in one of his videos stating that it’s very important to surround oneself with people who make that extra effort and make one value their life and bring positive qualities out within them rather than the negative ones.

5. Don’t seek approval from others

“Don’t let someone’s perception or perspective stop you from living your potential,” says the life-coach, suggesting that there will always be people finding faults with something or the other  that we do and seeking their approval can be a big hindrance in achieving success. In this way, he says that everyone should be able to work with their own conviction and to live fully on our own terms and not someone else’s.
