Muhammad Amir announces retirement from Test cricket

KARACHI: Pakistan cricket Muhammad Amir announced on Friday his decision to retire from test cricket.

Amir posted a short video on his YouTube channel and Twitter account announcing his decision. He said, “It was an honour for me to represent Pakistan in test cricket.”

“It was a dream for me and I was given the opportunity to play for my country and even set world records,” he said.

Amir went on to add that he had to come to the unfortunate decision because of some “cricketing reasons”.

“One of the reasons is that I was unable to play cricket for five years unfortunately. Upon my return, I played continuously for three years, which caused fitness issues. It came to the point that I had to make a choice. I’m not getting any younger, and as you know fast bowlers don’t have long careers”

He ended the video, saying he has officially decided to retire from test cricket.
