J. Crew just launched a feminist t-shirt for boys and we want it too

KARACHI: American retailer J. Crew launched a shirt that reads “I am a feminist too” and had it worn by a young boy, urging people to “Start ’em young”, as written on their Instagram account.

The company has released this t-shirt in collaboration with prinkshop — a clothing brand that comes up with socially conscious messages scribbled across the fabric. An article by a US-based publication, Today, reads that the shirt is priced at $29.50, 10 percent of which goes to Girl Up, a United Nations Foundation that empowers young girls.

The message on the shirt has drawn the attention of many and has received tons of support.

Another Instagram user applauded the move:

However, the text imprinted across the shirt has also received some backlash. CBS News reported that commenters shared upsetting remarks on Instagram. “Liberalism is a disease,” wrote one. “Unfollowing! You don’t have my business anymore,” said another.

Independent, a UK-based publication reported that prinkshop has previously launched collections to raise awareness regarding gun control in the US, education and women’s rights regarding reproduction.
