Maheen Khan launches new fashion line for men

KARACHI: Most of us tend to think that men have it easy when it comes to fashion. They do not have unrealistic expectations from society attached to their physical appearance, have not necessarily been taught to ‘compete’ over clothes and base much of their lives around who wears what. There have been social experiments with news reporters wearing the same shirt to work everyday and no one noticing. However, men who like to experiment with cuts, designs and colour tend to have a equally hard time finding the right clothes, specially desi wear. Fashion designer Maheen Khan seems to be equally bored of seeing the same kind of clothes being created for men. Hence, introducing her fashion line, Gulabo Gentlemen.

Introducing her new collection to twitter, Maheen Khan confessed how she “launched a men’s line for the fashion savy, only because I’m so bored with the way they dress. Those tight body hugging kameezes where every seam is stretched to bursting point or the poorly cut kameez that rides up in front like it or hate it. Has to be said.”

To spice things up in the men’s fashion industry, Gulabo Gentlemen has a combination of western wear such as eco-friendly cotton t-shirts and more eastern shirts and trousers. But, these aren’t just any trousers, they are shants! An exciting twist on shalwar and pant, these trousers from the new collection are two-in-one and can be transformed depending upon the overall look of the outfit. The shirts, too, are more baggy and loose fit as compared to the otherwise fitted shirts that Maheen Khan does not approve of.

And what could be better than a kurta from the men’s section that can be worn by women as well? We all know we’ve shopped from there at least once in our lives.
