KARACHI: For many of us, a constant childhood companion was a good series of books. They shaped our childhoods from helping us live out our childhood dream of being detectives to learning valuable lessons on friendship, love and respect to scaring ourselves silly! For those reasons, here are some books that will stay with us forever.
Enid Blyton was a maestro when it came to writing books for children and we read them all throughout our childhood. The Five Find Outers series was an easy favorite for many children. The characters were relatable and we all enjoyed how the kids outsmarted the already sour Mr. Goon. The books also taught us valuable lessons like how to make invisible ink and how to pick a lock!
Ever wondered what witches look like? What do they do in their free time? And more importantly, how do you bring down an army of witches who are out to get children? Roald Dahl made sure to answer all these questions in his thrilling book, The Witches. We won’t lie, we made sure to keep an eye out on the tell tale signs of a witch after reading the book!
Who says history is supposed to be boring? Terry Deary knew exactly how to make History fun for all ages with his Horrible Histories series. Between the illustrations and the writing style, we simply could not put the books down. And so whether it’s the Rotten Romans or the Groovy Greeks, there was so much to learn with these books!
This series was for older age groups who had graduated from The Goosebumps series. And boy oh boy, did they manage to scare us! From paranormal encounters to vengeful stalkers, there wasn’t anything that couldn’t happen in Shadyside! As scared as we were, we always wondered how cool it would be to live in the town where these books were set and try to imagine how we would survive!
