Britney Spears accuses father of controlling her a “100,000%”

KARACHI: #FreeBritney, a campaign that had been gaining momentum for a while has finally born fruit. Britney Spears has spoken up against her conservatorship in court, accusing her father of controlling her “100,000%”. “I just want my life back,” she said. She spoke to a judge in Los Angeles via telephone on Wednesday. During the phone call, she revealed she had been traumatized every day.

According to a report by BBC News, it was found that while the Los Angeles Superior Court, Judge Brenda Penny lauded Spears for her “courageous” words she made no ruling. There will be a long legal procedure likely to take place before a decision is made where Spears can walk out of the whole conservatorship ordeal and take ownership of her own self, the Associated Press reported.

“I want to end this conservatorship without being evaluated,” Spears spoke to the court via video link in an emotional address. “This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good,” she said. “I’m not happy, I can’t sleep. I’m so angry and I cry every day.”

Britney Spears (aged 39) told the court that she and her boyfriend wanted to have another baby, but the conservatorship where her father is in charge does not allow her to. She accused her conservator of disallowing her from removing the IUD (a contraceptive device) so she could get pregnant. She also revealed being put on the drug Lithium, a medicine for bipolar disorder. The drug makes her feel drunk and lethargic all the time, preventing her from having the energy to stand up for herself in situations.

“I deserve to have a life, I’ve worked my whole life. I deserve to have a two to three-year break,” she said. “This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good.” She also went on to explain that she feels exploited by her conservators. “I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive,” she added.

Spears revealed that she is not even allowed to go on a drive with her boyfriend.” She shared that she wants to marry her boyfriend Sam Asghari and have a baby with him, but she is not allowed to even drive with him. “All I want is to own my money and for this to end and for my boyfriend to be able to drive me in his car.”
