R.L Stine’s Fear Street is coming to Netflix

KARACHI: If you’re a 20-something, who loves horror stories, chances are you were introduced to the genre through R.L Stine’s Fear Street series. And if you were a fan of the R.L Stine Fear Street series, you’re in for a treat! Netflix announced that the infamous Fear Street saga has finally been made into a movie and is set to release on the streaming giant in July. Here’s what we know so far.

To start off with, we know that Fear Street will be released as a trilogy. If the titles of the movies are anything to go by, the movies will each take place in a different time period namely 1666, 1978, and 1994. The time periods indicate what the plot might include such as witch hunts. If you’re a R.L Stine Fear Street buff, you might be linking the movie plots to that of the books that also explored the history of the cursed town of Shadyside. Although this is pure speculation, the synopsis of the films, as released by Netflix, says: “In 1994, a group of teenagers discovers that the terrifying events that have haunted their town for generations may all be connected — and that they may be the next targets. Based on R.L. Stine’s best-selling horror series, the trilogy follows the nightmare through Shadyside’s sinister history.”

Each film will be released over three consecutive weeks starting from July 2nd and then will go on to the 9th and 16th of July. The movies are set to star big names such as Gillian Jacobs, Sadie Sink and Maya Hawke.

Those who have had a chance to read the books know just how scary they were back in the day, but it seems as though the movies plan to take it a step further. While the books were PG-rated, the movies have been announced to be rated R.

We’re excited to see what the series holds for us.
