Here’s what to expect from Salt Arts first socially distanced show

KARACHI: Less than a month ago, Salt Arts left its audience deeply curious and excited with the announcement of Comeback Karachi. Warming its fans up to the idea of returning to the world of music and concerts, Salt Arts announced for its first socially distanced concert to be held in Karachi on October 3rd.

Here is all that you can expect at the concert at Beach Luxury this weekend.

Performances

Comeback Karachi is all about dance. The show will be opened by dancer and performing artist, Kaif Ghaznavi, followed by Talha and Feroze of SomeWhatSuper, Pakistan’s most celebrated EDM duo who will be flying in from Lahore. The concert will also feature performers from Islamabad and Peshawar in the form of Khumariyaan, a tribal folk band.

Physical Distance

With almost a 60% reduction in the number of visitors allowed, Comeback Karachi is being held according to the guidelines set by Government of Pakistan’s National Command Operations Centre. Queues, waiting areas, concert ground, backstage, entry and exit plans will follow the same guidelines.

Ticketing

Tickets are available at bookitnow.pk and Chotu Chaiwala, Karachi. However, these are not regular tickets. The management has introduced buddy tickets under three categories: both women, both men, woman and man. Each buddy ticket will admit two people and has different price points.

Audience Requirements

All visitors will be required to bring a buddy with them, both of whom should have their NIC with them. Audience members are encouraged to carry their own water bottles, wear a mask and sanitize. Banners, posters, large bags, littering, laser lights, sharp objects, firearms, weapons, plastic bags, firecrackers, drugs and alcohol are prohibited. Audience members under the age of 18 and above 60 are also not allowed at the show.

The Buddy System

Buddies must come together and stay together. Physical distance will be ensured between pairs of buddies while allowing the audience to experience a traditional outdoor concert environment. Entry to the concert grounds will be on a first come, first served basis, and after satisfactory completion of SOP’s. Thermal screening will be conducted upon entry to the ticketing queue. Any person who does not meet the requirement, will be asked to leave, without exception, and without refund or ticket transfer.

Returning to social events may seem like an odd thing to do amidst a pandemic, but COVID-19 has proven that it is here to stay. Adjusting to the new socially distanced world may take some time, but concerts like Comeback Karachi might just be the stepping stone towards rebuilding a world of concerts. The audience definitely has a huge role to play in the success of the show, and if the right precautions are taken, Karachi can set an example for the rest to follow.
