2020 US election: Kanye West announces he’s running for president

Rapper Kanye West announced that he is running for president in the upcoming US presidential election in 2020.

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future,” he tweeted. “I am running for president of the United States!”

However, it’s unclear whether he’s actually running.

According to BBC, he does not appear to have registered his name with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for November’s election.

If he does actually run for president, he will be up against Donald Trump, a man he claims to admire.

West made an appearance at the White House with President Trump in 2018 during which he wore a Make America Great Again hat.

Back in 2015, Kanye also announced to run for the 2020 presidential bid at the MTV awards.

His wife Kim Kardashian seemed to have endorsed his idea, retweeting his tweet with an American flag.
