How to jazz up your work-from-home station on a budget

KARACHI: Let’s face it, we’re all googling “work from home” tips and tricks nowadays because even though the concept seemed fun at first, it has been difficult to stay focused and motivated as the lockdowns and restrictions continue.

But working from home may not be such a bad thing and here’s the biggest advantage: you get to design your work space whatever way you like! So if you’re anything like us, you’ll want to design your work-from-home station as nicely as possible without spending big bucks on it. Here’s how to go about it:

Have a designated corner

This step is crucial. You need a separate space where you sit down to work and it can’t be your bed or your lounge or any spot where you indulge in recreational or relaxing activities. Your work-from-home station is supposed to motivate you to work, not make you sleepy or lazy. So find an unused space and start setting it up!

Sunlight

If you’re lucky to have a window in your room that allows a lot of sunlight, utilise that space! Natural sunlight will provide that burst of vitamin D which will give you loads of energy.

Less is more

So you don’t have a lot of space and don’t want to spend too much on getting a new study table? We hear you. Still, one has to come up with creative and cost-effective solutions and here is one: don’t get a bulky, expensive study table. Instead, get a shelf that can be fixed into the wall. It will cost less and will give you room to place things underneath it.

Colours

Painting a colour that is known to boost positivity and optimism will be a big help when sitting down to work at home. Yellow and green are good for enhancing friendliness, creativity and harmony.

Plants

Nothing will breathe life into you (quite literally, actually) than a couple of plants placed around the area where you sit down to work. Not only will they add colour to your work station, but that extra oxygen will be really helpful in making you more productive.
