#WorldRefugeeDay: Here’s how you can help

World Refugee Day falls each year on June 20 to spotlight the bravery and plight of those who have been displaced and forced to flee their homes.

Pakistan is host to one of the largest number of refugees in the world. According to the UN, more than 70 million people are now forcibly displaced worldwide.

This year’s theme for the day is Every Action Counts.

Despite being in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, here’s how you can make a difference

Join virtual events

The UN has compiled a list of events you can join online. These include online art exhibitions with works of refugees or watching film about the refugee crisis.

Send messages of support

The International Rescue Committee which works with over 40 countries, delivering health care, education, cash and employment support to some of the most vulnerable people in the world, is asking people to send words of encouragement and support to refugees this year.
