Gym owners are protesting shirtless against closure of their facilities in Pakistan

KARACHI: Pictures of people protesting the closure of gyms during the coronavirus lockdown have gone viral for one reason: some of the protestors are shirtless and buffed.

The pictures show protestors in masks and little else as they hold banners saying, “Let us open our gyms, we also have families.”

While their concerns for not being able to run their businesses is a legit concern, many people are taking to social media to make a point about double standards and gender inequality. 

Many women are subjected to endless comments about their choice of attire on social media, with men often asking “Is this the Islamic Republic of Pakistan??” Or giving unsolicited advice and making analogies about covered and uncovered lollipops.
