Gohar Rasheed and Osman Khalid Butt DON’T think that Turkish shows are a threat to local artists

KARACHI: A few days ago, Yasir Hussain posted an Insta story in which he suggested that the airing of Turkish TV shows on local channels will “destroy the industry”. This fear seems to be stemming from the fact that Turkish show Diriliş: Ertuğrul was aired on PTV.

He also said that “when your brother will be removed from the bank, your sister from her school and your father from his job and these jobs will be given to Turkish people, then you will know what I’m talking about.” (A bit extreme if you ask us, but then again, it’s Yasir Hussain.)

Later, Mansha Pasha jumped to defend his point of view, saying that it was really difficult to make content in Pakistan.

Thankfully, some sanity has prevailed and artists like Gohar Rasheed and Osman Khalid Butt have shown that Pakistani artists can be forward-thinking individuals as well. Both celebrities maintain that foreign content does not pose any threat to local artists and content.

In fact, Osman Khalid Butt even goes to point out that airing foreign content will actually lead to more jobs for local dubbing and voice over artists.
