Adnan Siddiqui also agrees that Meray Paas Tum Ho was a little problematic

KARACHI: A lot has been said about Meray Paas Tum Ho and we hear you, it’s time to move on from the show. But it’s also important to note when actors start to address some of the misogyny that everyone complained about because that means that actors are taking responsibility of the art they’re producing.

Earlier, Rehmat Ajmal spoke about how she did not endorse Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar’s misogynistic statements given to the media in light of the show and the latest to join the list is Adnan Siddiqui, who plays a crucial character in MPTH.

The actor took the opportunity to thank his fans for enjoying the show but also wanted to say that he agreed with the criticism around it. “I wanted to thank you all for the love you have given Mere Pass Tum Ho,” reads his post on Instagram. I understand the dialogues had some problematic leanings, and sometimes went a little far, sometimes quite far in painting women with a single brush stroke – I understand and take all of that on board. I wish the drama had consciously added nuance to the storyline.

Regardless, I wanted to thank you for your love, your loyalty, your eyeballs – glued to the screen every week. There is nothing greater for an artist than for his art and craft to be appreciated. We will strive to improve our story lines, and in my own production company Cereal Entertainment, I am giving women writers the chance and space to create good content. In the meantime, thank you, and see you soon.”
