Sana Safinaz opens Fashion Pakistan Week with collection inspired by Iqbal’s poetry

KARACHI: Sana Safinaz opened the curtains to the first day of Fashion Pakistan Week ( FPW) with a  show titled, ‘Message from the East’, showcasing flora-and-fauna inspired designs.

The collection explored the journey of poetry in motion, according to a press release. Influenced by Iqbal’s poem Payaam-i-Mashriq, the collection was an interesting mix of bright colors and palettes. “With details such as heavy embellishment of rhinestones, delicate silk floss thread work, the collection truly was as art on a fabric canvas,” stated the press release.

Among the colours that stood out were deep reds, blush, and subtle pastels juxtaposed with floral designs complimented with cuts and silhouette. Models Amna Baber and Fahmeen Ansari sported the ethereal bridal gowns. The bridal dresses had exquisite detailing in their eastern outlook.  Others like Sadaf Kanwal  slayed the modern bride look with bandannas, retro shades and belted bows.

Overall, velvety tones, silver and pearl work, silk pants and playful sleeves made a unique mark on the ramp.

“You have no spark in you if your today is just a copy of your yesterdays – Our vision for this couture show can be found in these words from Iqbal’s message from the east,” said Safinaz Muneer of Sana Safinaz, in her message.
