1. First Fridays Open Mic: July Edition

The Second Floor’s First Fridays Open Mic offers a platform to musicians, poets, and comedians to perform, improvise and experiment in an informal setting. Exciting, isn’t it?

2. Design Meetup 01: The Impact of Design

Hosted by the Designist, this one’s calling all designers. But you have to register for this one. Moderated by Farwa Tapal, the meet up will include panelists Ahmed Ansari, Hasan Habib, Jehan Ara, Marvi Mazhar and Nabia Azhar.

3. Book Launch: The Pop-Culture Junkie’s Guide to Pakistani Cinema

This is for all you cinema junkies. Go and grab the first copies of this book by the debutante author Ushah Kazi and get a chance to indulge in some intense film talk with her.

4. Let’s Plant A Tree – Karachi

This event is being hosted in collaboration with Urban Forest, Shahzad Qureshi’s brainchild, which was initiated after the 2015 heatwave. Per plant donation is estimated at Rs950.

5. Breath Body Mind Workshop with Dr. Bilal Ahmed

This is a one-day, walk-in workshop to train you to tap into the innate wisdom of your body through breath and movement using ancient practices that have been scientifically verified by modern neuroscience. The event’s introduction claims that these practices can help improve emotion regulation, resilience to stress, anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), attention, and can optimize cognitive function and behavior. The instructor, Bilal Ahmed, is a MBBS doctor by profession with a special interest in mental health and mind-body medicine. He is a certified Level 1 Breath-Body-Mind (BBM) teacher and has assisted workshops in the US. Registration fee is Rs600 and the training is directed towards teenagers and adults.
