KARACHI: British-Pakistani author Kamila Shamsie is making headlines for winning the Women’s Prize for Fiction for her novel, Home Fire, based on the classic Greek play, Antigone, written by Sophocles. According to The Telegraph, Shamsie was presented with the £30,000 prize money and statuette by the chair of judges Sarah Sands in a ceremony at Bedford Square Gardens.
The author has been shortlisted for the award twice before, for her books Burnt Shadows and A God in Every Stone.
Shamsie’s Home Fire has previously been longlisted for the 2017 Man Booker prize and shortlisted for the Costa novel award as well.
